Rake your own leaves is a good exercise while cleaning up your yard. Raking and bagging leaves can burn 350-450 calories per hour. Shoveling snow can burn 400-600 calories per hour.

Vary your workouts

Your muscles get use to same exercise and your body becomes very efficient. The adaptation means your body burns fewer calories when you’re doing the same amount of exercise. Change your routine so your body doesn’t get used to the same exercises, exercise one muscle group every third day.

In the same study conducted at Harvard, a 120 pound person can burn 270 calories in 30 minutes of boxing (sparring) and a 185 pound person can burn 400 calories in the same session.

Take advantage of the weather to run in the morning or evening. Begin your day by 30 mins power run in the morning. If you’re not an early bird, run in the evening helps you reduce stress from work and relax your tense muscles.
